The Capital Development Authority (CDA) will receive 21 modern fire and rescue vehicles from China. This grant will strengthen Islamabad’s emergency response system.

China will provide these vehicles under a special grant agreement signed in 2019. The fleet includes 19 fire trucks and 2 rescue vehicles with advanced features.

The Chinese government will spend 72.31 million RMB on this project. They will ship these vehicles to Karachi port and cover all transportation costs.

The new fleet consists of different types of specialized vehicles. It includes aerial platform trucks, water tank trucks, water tower trucks, and equipment trucks.

China will also send technical experts to Pakistan. These experts will train local staff for 15 days about vehicle operation and maintenance.

The vehicles will display Chinese Foreign Aid logos. This will highlight China’s contribution to Pakistan’s emergency services.

Pakistan will handle the vehicles’ customs clearance and local transportation. The CDA will be responsible for their maintenance and daily operations.

The CDA’s current fleet has not seen any major upgrades since 2006. The new vehicles will arrive in early 2025, giving a much-needed boost to the city’s fire brigade.

This upgrade will help the CDA better respond to emergencies in high-rise buildings. The current snorkels can only reach up to 68 meters, which limits their effectiveness.

The new vehicles will modernize Islamabad’s fire brigade. This improvement comes after several failed attempts to upgrade the emergency response system.
