Chinese FM calls for healthy, steady development of China-Ukraine ties

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held talks with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba here Wednesday, urging healthy and steady development of bilateral ties. China and Ukraine are friendly countries, with their strategic partnership established more than a decade ago, said Wang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee. He said that the two countries have treated each other with mutual respect and equality and steadily advanced mutually beneficial cooperation.

China and Ukraine have enjoyed a robust and mutually beneficial relationship marked by cooperation and shared interests. Diplomatic ties between the two countries were established in 1992, and since then, their partnership has steadily grown stronger, encompassing various sectors such as trade, technology, education, and culture.

One of the hallmarks of China-Ukraine relations is their thriving economic partnership. China is Ukraine’s largest trading partner, with bilateral trade reaching impressive heights. Ukrainian exports, including agricultural products like grain and sunflower oil, find a significant market in China, contributing to Ukraine’s economic growth. Conversely, China supplies Ukraine with a wide range of goods, including electronics, machinery, and consumer products, fostering a balanced trade relationship.

In addition to trade, China and Ukraine collaborate closely in the field of technology and innovation. Joint ventures and partnerships in areas such as aerospace, information technology, and infrastructure development highlight the dynamic nature of their cooperation. The exchange of expertise and resources in these high-tech fields is mutually beneficial and paves the way for future advancements.

Education and cultural exchanges also play a vital role in strengthening China-Ukraine relations. Both countries have seen a growing number of students pursuing higher education in each other’s institutions. This educational exchange not only enhances academic cooperation but also promotes greater cultural understanding and friendship between the peoples of China and Ukraine.

Moreover, China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) has created new opportunities for infrastructure development in Ukraine. Investments in ports, railways, and highways under the BRI framework are set to boost connectivity and economic integration, benefiting both nations. These projects are a testament to China’s commitment to supporting Ukraine’s development and prosperity.

China and Ukraine share a vision of promoting peace, stability, and sustainable development on the global stage. They cooperate in international forums, advocate for multilateralism, and contribute to addressing global challenges such as climate change and poverty reduction.

In conclusion, China-Ukraine relations are characterized by cooperation, mutual respect, and shared aspirations. The positive trajectory of their partnership bodes well for the future, promising continued growth and deeper ties across various domains. As both nations work together to achieve common goals, the China-Ukraine relationship stands as a beacon of optimism and collaboration in the international arena.
