Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Alisher Tukhtayev, announced the upcoming launch of direct flights between Lahore and Tashkent, expected to commence next month. He revealed this during a meeting with Senator Irfanul Haque Siddiqui, Chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, in Islamabad.
This initiative is aimed at strengthening connectivity between the two nations, which is expected to significantly boost trade, tourism, and cultural ties. Ambassador Tukhtayev further indicated plans to expand the flight network to include other major cities across Pakistan.
Senator Siddiqui commended the ambassador’s efforts and emphasized that enhanced connectivity would unlock valuable opportunities for both nations. He remarked that both countries possess vast potential for economic and cultural collaboration and that direct air links would allow both sides to explore and maximize these opportunities.
Senator Siddiqui also expressed hope that Tukhtayev’s tenure would contribute to the continued growth of bilateral relations between Pakistan and Uzbekistan.
In addition to the flight announcement, Ambassador Tukhtayev extended an invitation to Senator Siddiqui and a Pakistani parliamentary delegation to observe Uzbekistan’s upcoming legislative elections on October 27. Senator Siddiqui thanked Uzbekistan’s Central Election Commission for the invitation and highlighted the importance of strengthening democratic cooperation and people-to-people exchanges.
