The 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China convened its third plenary session in Beijing from July 15 to 18, 2024. Following the session, Nepali leaders and professionals have expressed hope that China’s tremendous achievements could be beneficial for other countries including Nepal.
They are of the view that the positive changes and reforms in China have automatic influence in the world including in the neighboring countries.
Bishnu Rijal, central committee member of CPN UML, stated, “The deepening reform of China has a wider impact on global reform and progress. As a close and immediate neighbor, Nepal should take and benefit from great reforms and development of China.”
Stating that Nepal cannot complete all the development efforts alone considering the size of the country’s economy, Rijal remarked that Nepal needs cooperation from China, which has a large and strong economy.
“We believe that we can make change and progress and move the development cycle to a new phase with the implementation of some game-changing projects with the support from an economically giant country,” the leader said.
He further mentioned that the extraordinary progress achieved by China today has been possible under the leadership of the Communist Party of China (CPC), which has rich and glorious experiences.
“The CPC has recently taken some important decisions to improve China’s economy from the third meeting of the 20th Central Committee. The CPC is walking on a new path of socialism by overcoming its weaknesses. This third meeting has proved itself as a milestone,” Rijal remarked.
On the occasion, Shen Haixiong, President of China Media Group, shared in a video message that the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China’s Third Plenary Session is a milestone for China in the new era.
“The comprehensive deepening of reform in China in the new era is the key to promoting national rejuvenation and the great motivation of building a strong nation through Chinese modernization. In addition, it will also provide new assistance for humanity in exploring modernization pathways and better social systems, offering new opportunities and introducing new momentum into the development of countries around the globe,” Shen remarked.
Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Chen Song shared about the major highlights of the Third Plenum and China’s ongoing commitment to reform and openness.
“These reform plans will be instrumental in developing networks that connect Nepal and China across the Himalayas. They will also help enhance Nepal’s capacities in agriculture, industry, trade, digital technology, energy, and tourism, paving the way for prosperity,” the ambassador remarked.
He stated that China is always pleased to support Nepal’s economic development and prosperity.
Meanwhile, Kishor Shrestha, Chairman of the Nepal-China Media Forum, stated that Nepal and China can forge a mutually beneficial partnership through media, unlocking boundless opportunities within the context of China’s Reform in the New Era.
“Nepal can learn from China’s technological advancements, including artificial intelligence and proper mobilization of social media,” he stated.
Likewise, Niraj Lawoju, a PhD candidate at Sichuan University, stated that developing countries like Nepal can learn the main spirit of Chinese development where market forces are free to play but the issues and sectors directly related to the daily life of people must not be freely left over.
“People-centered policies of the Chinese state has always been the major reason for Chinese miracle by which the government, people, and society of other countries like Nepal can learn much,” Lawoju expressed.
Speakers put forth such opinions in a program entitled “Global Opportunities in Deepening China’s Reform in the New Era,” organized by China Media Group and Sino Nepal Media Society in Kathmandu.
