Chinese delegation discusses digital skills training project with TEVTA

LAHORE, Jun 25 (Gwadar Pro) – A Chinese delegation visited the Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) Secretariat in Lahore on Wednesday to discuss a Pakistan-China digital skills and e-commerce training project for women.

The project, called Ban-Mo Academy, is planned at the Government College of Technology for Women, Lytton Road, Lahore. It is aimed at providing training in cross-border e-commerce, digital skills and vocational education.

The academy is being developed under a five-party agreement involving China’s Shandong College of Electronic Technology, Lancmall (SMC-Private) Ltd, Punjab TEVTA, Government College of Technology for Women, Lahore, and ITMC Technology Co Ltd.

A meeting on the project was chaired by TEVTA Chairman Brig. (retd) Muhammad Sajid Khokhar, who said the initiative could open the way for broader cooperation in skills training.

The Chinese delegation included representatives from academic and technical institutions, including officials associated with business management, digital media, network engineering, and computer and software engineering.

Speaking to Gwadar Pro, UNI International Director Yasser Shakoor said the academy would offer short courses in digital and e-commerce skills linked to the needs of Chinese e-commerce companies operating in Pakistan. He said Lancmall would serve as the Chinese industry partner in the arrangement.

Shakoor said the planned centre would be handed over to TEVTA Punjab later this year, while classes were expected to begin in the spring 2027 session.

He said the collaboration would also include teacher training, equipment, updated curricula, and possible internship and job opportunities in Chinese enterprises operating in Pakistan.

After the meeting, the delegation visited the Luban Workshop, Digital Silk Road Academy and Meraki Hospitality Department at GTTI Gulberg, Lahore.
