Services trade deficit narrows 6.7% as exports outpace import growth during the first nine months of FY26

Pakistan’s services exports increased 17.05% during the first nine months of fiscal year 2025-26, while the services trade deficit narrowed as export growth outpaced imports, according to data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).

The country earned $7.345 billion from services exports during July-March FY26 compared to $6.275 billion in the corresponding period of the last fiscal year.

Imports of services also increased during the period, rising 10.65% to $9.496 billion from $8.582 billion a year earlier.

As a result, the services trade deficit declined 6.74% to $2.151 billion during July-March FY26 compared to a deficit of $2.306 billion recorded in the same period of FY25.

On a year-on-year basis, services exports in March 2026 rose 16.17% to $902.91 million compared to $777.22 million in March 2025, PBS data showed.

Services imports during March 2026 increased 3.17% to $925.80 million from $897.34 million in the same month last year.

On a month-on-month basis, services exports grew 12.83% in March 2026 compared to $800.21 million recorded in February 2026.

Imports of services posted a marginal monthly increase of 0.36% in March 2026, rising from $922.50 million in February, according to the PBS.
