Air Karachi is a new private airline in Pakistan, supported by big traders in Karachi. The airline received its flying license from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) in June 2025 and plans to start domestic flights by the end of the year. Initially, the Air Karachi will use three leased planes and will make the number seven within a year.
Strong leadership and support
The airline is headed as CEO of retired Air Vice Marshal Syed Imran Majid Ali, as well as with COO Imran Qadir and other experienced East-Bal Bal Officers. This strong leadership brings aviation knowledge and discipline. Financially, the airline is supported by famous investors such as Akil Karim Dhadi, Arif Habib and others. Overall, Rs. 5 billion has been invested, with 100 shareholders equally contributed.
Route and expansion plan
Air Karachi will first focus on domestic flights between major cities like Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Multan, Quetta and Peshawar. This travel will also serve small cities to improve connections. After one year of domestic service, the airline plans to expand internationally with flights to Dubai, Jeddah and Riyadh by 2026.
Business Model and Mission
Inspired by the success of the airial, Air Karachi promises cheap, timely and customer-friendly flights. The airline aims to provide quality service without additional hidden fees. Its mission is to build jobs, support tourism and provide better options to passengers at low prices .
Importance for Pakistan
The launch of Air Karachi is important because Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is struggling with privatization, and only three private airlines—Airblue, SereneAir, and AirSial—are currently operating. Air Karachi will bring competition, reduce ticket prices, and improve overall service standards. This will also help the economy by creating jobs and attracting more tourists.
Challenges Ahead
The airline still faces challenges like securing aircraft on time, gaining final approvals, and competing with other airlines. Also, small airports may not have good facilities for smooth operations.
What Travelers Should Know
Passengers can expect affordable fares and good baggage allowance (up to 30 kg in some classes). For the latest updates, travelers should follow Air Karachi’s official website and booking platforms .
