The government has decided to install 3,100 more surveillance cameras across Islamabad to further expand and enhance the Safe City system.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, during his visit to the Safe City Headquarters, inaugurated the Online Women Police Station and the “One Info App.” He praised Islamabad IG Ali Nasir Rizvi’s efforts and inspected live monitoring operations via the Safe City’s digital wall.
Naqvi said the “One Info App” would allow citizens to report emergencies quickly and directed that digital platforms be fully operational to ensure timely support for women and vulnerable individuals. He noted that both the app and online police station represent the adoption of modern policing tools.
Chairing a review meeting, the minister said the Safe City project has proven critical in crime control and rapid response. He stressed transforming Islamabad into a security model by integrating artificial intelligence and modern technology into the system.
He also ordered linking Islamabad’s Safe City system with similar setups in other provinces to enhance data sharing and strengthen national security coordination.
During the briefing, IG Islamabad shared that 3,100 cameras are currently operational in the city and that the new phase will effectively double coverage.
He said the Safe City network has helped solve several high-profile cases, including the Sardar Fahim murder case, and contributed to a significant decline in the crime rate.
