This comes after the United Kingdom recently removed Pakistan from its air safety blacklist, effectively lifting a five-year ban on Pakistani airlines operating in British airspace.
The move has been welcomed by aviation officials, travelers, and the Pakistani diaspora in the UK, who have long awaited the restoration of direct connections.
The British High Commission in Islamabad announced the decision, with High Commissioner Jane Marriott commending the joint efforts of aviation authorities from both countries. “I look forward to traveling with Pakistani airlines,” she remarked.
In response to the UK’s decision, PIA has already begun preparations to relaunch direct flights. The national carrier plans to operate three weekly flights to Manchester in the initial phase, utilizing its Boeing 777 fleet.
