Following amendments to the net metering policy by the federal government, solar panel prices have started to decline, bringing relief to consumers looking to invest in renewable energy.

Prices have dropped by Rs. 2 per watt, leading to significant reductions in installation costs, according to reports.

The cost of installing solar power systems has fallen by Rs. 35,000 to Rs. 175,000, depending on the system’s capacity. Consumers opting for solar energy can now benefit from the updated pricing:

  • 5kW system – Rs. 550,000
  • 7kW system – Rs. 625,000
  • 10kW system – Rs. 850,000
  • 12kW system – Rs. 978,000
  • 15kW system – Rs. 1,150,000

These prices apply to on-grid solar systems directly connected to the electricity grid. However, hybrid systems—which include battery storage—will cost more due to additional battery expenses.
