Three Gazan students granted visas to study in Ireland

Three Palestinian students have been granted visas allowing them to study at Irish universities.
The students’ visa applications were originally refused during the summer and they later appealed the decision.
It’s understood the appeals process could have taken up to a year, and a judicial review was subsequently sought in the High Court against the Minister for Justice’s previous refusal of the visas.
The case was due to be heard last week; however, it was settled with a decision on the four students’ appeal of the refusals to be made by yesterday evening.
Three students were granted a visa, and one was refused.
All of the students had been accepted to courses in Irish universities, and each of them also had scholarships to study here.
Susan Doyle, of SMD Solicitors, represented one student in the case.
The student has a fully funded scholarship to study at UCC.
Ms Doyle said that when she told her client the news, he was “absolutely speechless”.
“He was delighted with the decision, and is so grateful to everyone involved”.
Ms Doyle said that there are several similar cases yet to be heard in the High Court next week, and that “all of the other students are feeling so hopeful”.
