Pakistan: Sandal Express to Resume Service from Sargodha

Pakistan Railways will restore the Sandal Express from August 21, 2026, reviving a long-suspended rail link expected to provide an affordable and convenient travel option for passengers in Sargodha and surrounding areas.

Pakistan Railways will restore the Sandal Express from August 21, 2026, reviving a long-suspended rail link expected to provide an affordable and convenient travel option for passengers in Sargodha and surrounding areas.

According to the new railway timetable, Sandal Express (140 Down) will depart from Sargodha at 3:35 pm, while train 139 Up will leave Multan at 6:30 am and reach Sargodha at 1:20 pm.

The restoration has been welcomed by citizens, particularly students, businesspeople, employees and other passengers who rely on affordable public transport for travel between Sargodha, Multan and intermediate destinations.

Residents said the resumption of the service would provide an alternative to comparatively expensive road transport at a time when rising living costs have increased the burden on ordinary commuters.

They also expressed hope that the restored service would operate regularly and on schedule, with adequate passenger facilities maintained at railway stations and during journeys.

Citizens said the revival of the Sandal Express was more than the return of a train, as it could also help restore passenger activity and associated commercial opportunities around railway stations.

They urged Pakistan Railways to ensure the service’s continuity and improve basic facilities so that the restored train could meet the needs and expectations of passengers.
