Punjab minister finalises agreement during visit to Shenzhen, China

The Punjab government has signed an agreement with China’s Vivo Mobile Company to establish a mobile phone manufacturing factory in the province. This development promises to bring jobs, technology transfer, and economic growth to Punjab.

Punjab’s Minister for Industries and Commerce Chaudhry Shafay Hussain finalized the agreement during his visit to Shenzhen, China.

On the third day of his visit, the minister toured Vivo’s state-of-the-art manufacturing plant and observed various stages of mobile production. During the visit, Vivo CEO Luke briefed the minister on the company’s manufacturing process and its commitment to quality and innovation.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Luke announced the company’s decision to set up a production facility in Punjab, underscoring Vivo’s confidence in the region’s industrial potential and workforce. The agreement, signed by Chaudhry Shafay Hussain and Mr. Luke, marks a significant milestone in Punjab’s efforts to attract foreign investment and modernize its industrial base.

Chaudhry Shafay Hussain expressed optimism about the venture, stating, “This collaboration is a testament to Punjab’s growing reputation as a hub for industrial development. The factory will not only generate employment opportunities but also enhance the local manufacturing sector by introducing cutting-edge technology.”
