The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has advised smartphone, tablet and computer users to enable location tracking services such as Find My iPhone and Google Find My Device to help recover devices if they are lost or stolen.

The authority issued a set of device management guidelines aimed at helping families prevent unauthorized access and protect personal information stored on their devices.

PTA recommended securing devices with strong passwords or biometric authentication, including fingerprints and facial recognition. Users were also advised to install the latest software updates and security patches regularly.

The authority further recommended backing up important files such as documents, photographs and contacts to secure cloud services or external storage.

Parents were advised to use built-in parental control features to manage children’s screen time, limit access to applications and prevent exposure to inappropriate content.

PTA also urged users to remove all personal information before selling, donating or handing over a device for repairs.

Performing a factory reset can help prevent personal data from being accessed or misused after the device is no longer in the user’s possession.
