Azerbaijan has officially received its first batch of JF-17C (Block-III) multirole fighter jets at a ceremony held at Heydar Aliyev International Airport. The event, attended by President Ilham Aliyev, marks a significant addition to Azerbaijan’s military capabilities.
According to the Ministry of Defence, these advanced jets were developed in collaboration between the Pakistan Aeronautical Complex and China’s Chengdu Aircraft Industry Corporation.
The JF-17C jets, known for their versatility in air-to-air and air-to-ground combat, are equipped to handle missions in all weather conditions. Their high maneuverability makes them an important asset for Azerbaijan’s Air Force.
Air Vice Marshal Hakim Raza, Chairman of the Pakistan Aeronautical Complex, provided an overview of the jets’ tactical and operational capabilities during the handover ceremony.
While the number of jets and the deal’s value have not been officially disclosed, earlier reports indicated that Azerbaijan’s acquisition of the JF-17Cs is part of a larger defense agreement worth $1.6 billion.
This deal is expected to deepen military ties between Pakistan and Azerbaijan, with both countries looking to strengthen their defense cooperation. The delivery follows President Aliyev’s recent visit to Pakistan, where discussions focused on enhancing economic and military relations between the two nations.
