47 NUST researchers ranked among world’s top 2% scientists

An impressive 47 researchers from the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), Islamabad, have been recognized among the world’s top 2% scientists for 2025, according to the latest global rankings jointly compiled by Stanford University and Elsevier.

The annual list features over 100,000 leading researchers worldwide across multiple disciplines, highlighting those whose scholarly work has achieved the highest impact based on key bibliometric indicators such as citations, h-index, and authorship positions.

The number of NUST researchers included in this prestigious list has shown a steady upward trend — rising from 23 in 2022, to 31 in 2023, 43 in 2024, and now 47 in 2025. The consistent growth underscores the university’s thriving research culture and its commitment to fostering innovation and academic excellence.

Significantly, 26 NUST researchers have maintained their place in the global rankings year after year, reflecting their sustained contribution to impactful research.

NUST officials attributed this success to the institution’s robust R&D ecosystem, which encourages interdisciplinary collaboration, promotes innovation, and supports scholars in producing world-class research.

In the QS World University Rankings 2025-26, NUST holds the 371st position globally, ranks 67th in Asia, and 6th in South Asia, further solidifying its reputation as Pakistan’s leading higher education institution.

The 2025 Stanford-Elsevier list includes NUST scholars representing 15 diverse disciplines across 10 constituent schools, spanning Artificial Intelligence, Signal Processing, Materials Science, Chemical and Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Nanotechnology, Biomedical Sciences, Physics, Cyber Security, Computer Science, Design and Manufacturing, Humanities, Mathematics, and Fluid Mechanics.
