A spokesperson for Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization (AEO) confirmed on Friday that traces of nuclear contamination were found within the Natanz nuclear facility in central Isfahan province, following a reported missile attack by Israel.

According to Behrouz Kamalvandi, who spoke to Iranian state television, Israel launched multiple missiles aimed at penetrating deep into the Natanz site — Iran’s largest and most secure nuclear complex.

“There was some contamination detected inside the facility, but it has not spread beyond the premises,” Kamalvandi explained, adding that the situation is under control and does not pose a significant threat.

Meanwhile, the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, also addressed the incident, confirming that external radiation levels remain stable.

“Radiation levels outside the Natanz site have not changed,” Grossi stated in a message posted on X (formerly Twitter). “The contamination identified inside primarily consists of alpha particles, which are manageable with the correct safety protocols.”

Both Iranian and international officials emphasized that while the facility sustained internal contamination, there is no immediate risk to the public or the surrounding environment.
