In the wake of what have been described as cowardly and unprovoked attacks on five locations within Pakistan, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has called an emergency meeting of the National Security Council (NSC), scheduled for 10:00 AM on Thursday.
The Prime Minister strongly condemned the aggression, labeling it a hostile act by a “deceitful enemy.” The attacks, believed to have been carried out by India, have further escalated tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbours.
“Pakistan reserves the full right to respond to this act of war imposed by India — and is responding accordingly,” the statement said, reaffirming that the country’s defense forces are fully prepared and actively engaged in safeguarding national sovereignty.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the entire nation stands firmly behind the Pakistan Armed Forces, with national morale and resolve remaining high. “The people of Pakistan and our military know well how to deal with any adversary,” he stated.
Government officials reiterated that any attempts by the enemy to destabilize Pakistan will be firmly countered and ultimately defeated.
