The National Information Technology Board (NITB) has completed testing of the Beep application, a secure communication platform designed for government employees.

The app was successfully tested in the Ministry of IT and its affiliated departments, and the clearance process is now underway to ensure compliance with security, encryption, and hosting standards before its official launch for federal employees.

According to NITB officials, the clearance phase includes technical evaluations of encryption protocols, firewall security, and data protection mechanisms. Cybersecurity experts and government agencies are reviewing the app for vulnerabilities. Several feature modifications were made during testing, including a redesign of the interface to resemble WhatsApp, making it more user-friendly for government employees.

The Beep app has been developed with a five-million-user capacity and is hosted on NTC servers, ensuring that all data remains within Pakistan. The app follows WhatsApp-style end-to-end encryption protocols to provide secure communication. It will be exclusively available to government employees, with no access for the general public.

Government employees will require document verification clearance before they can use the app. Once approved, they will receive unique access codes for authentication. The platform is structured with multiple layers, ensuring that communication remains restricted within and between ministries.

Each ministry will have a dedicated communication layer with separate channels for inter-ministerial discussions. Additionally, a specialized layer for secretary-to-secretary communication has been implemented. The Beep app aims to enhance secure digital communication within government departments, reducing reliance on third-party messaging applications.
