Karachi Airport is expediting the upgrade of runway 07L, which will soon be classified as category 4F, making it capable of accommodating the world’s largest commercial aircraft.

Once completed, the upgraded runway will allow the Airbus A380, a double-deck aircraft with a seating capacity of up to 600 passengers, to land at the airport.

According to airport officials, construction is underway, with the project expected to be finished by the end of 2025. The upgrade involves dismantling the existing runway to build a new one designed to support larger, long-haul flights.

Several international airlines, including Emirates, have shown interest in utilizing the enhanced runway for their high-capacity aircraft.

This development is expected to significantly boost Karachi Airport’s ability to manage larger flights, strengthening its position as a key international aviation hub.
