
Pakistan’s annual consumer inflation rate dropped to 4.1 percent in December 2024, marking the lowest level in over 6.5 years (81 months or since April 2018), according to the figures shared by Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) on Wednesday.
The headline inflation, measured by the Consumer Price Index (CPI), had slowed down to 4.9 percent in November 2024 and clocked in at 29.7 percent in December 2023. This took This 1HFY25 average inflation to 7.2 percent against 1HFY24 average of 28.8 percent, according to Arif Habib Limited (AHL).
On month-on-month basis, it increased by 0.1 percent in December 2024 as compared to 0.5 percent in the previous month and an increase of 0.8 percent in December 2023.

CPI inflation Urban, decreased to 4.4 percent on year-on-year basis in December 2024 as compared to 5.2 percent in the previous month and 30.9 percent in December 2023. On month-on-month basis, it decreased by 0.1 percent in December 2024 as compared to 0.5 percent in the previous month and an increase of 0.7 percent in December 2023.
CPI inflation Rural, decreased to 3.6 percent on year-on-year basis in December 2024 as compared to 4.3 percent in the previous month and 27.9 percent in December 2023. On month-on-month basis, it increased by 0.3 percent in December 2024 as compared to 0.5 percent in the previous month and an increase of 1.0 percent in December 2023.
