To support trade and investment, the Embassy of Sweden in Pakistan launched the Sweden-Pakistan Business Guide 2026-2028 Thursday night, which brings together key information on the business relationship between the two countries and opportunities for future trade, investment, and partnerships.

The launch took place at the Swedish Residence in Islamabad and brought together representatives from the federal government, diplomatic missions, the Swedish Business Council in Pakistan, Swedish companies, business and industry stakeholders, and journalists and media representatives.

Speaking at the occasion, the Ambassador of Sweden, Alex Berg von Linde, highlighted the depth of the existing business relationship between the two countries, noting that more than 40 Swedish companies were currently active in Pakistan, many with a presence spanning several decades.

“Sweden and Pakistan have a long-standing relationship, and there is already a strong business community connecting our two countries. This publication brings some of that experience together and, at the same time, looks towards future opportunities,” said the Ambassador of Sweden.

Jawad Paul, who is Federal Secretary Commerce, Ministry of Commerce, speaking as chief guest, highlighted the importance of strengthening economic and commercial ties between Pakistan and Sweden and the role of greater business cooperation in creating new opportunities for both countries.

With reference to GSP +, Jawad Paul said, “We have already started work on the re-application, which will be due before December 31, 2028. Just to reassure you that GSP Plus is the foundation of the relationship between Pakistan and Europe, we stay committed, and we are confident given our international commitments. We will be able to join under the new regulation starting from 1st of January 2029.”

The Sweden-Pakistan Business Guide was intended as a practical resource for companies, investors, government institutions and other stakeholders interested in the Swedish-Pakistani business relationship. It provided an overview of the two markets, the Team Sweden network,

Sweden’s strengths as a business and investment partner, and served as a directory of Swedish companies operating in Pakistan. It also highlighted key priority areas where Sweden and Pakistan were developing closer cooperation, including sustainable textiles, ICT and digitalization, and responsible mining.

According to the embassy, the central idea behind the publication was “Made with Sweden in Pakistan” – a concept that reflected the way Swedish companies and Pakistani partners were already working together.

Rather than focusing only on what was made in Sweden or Pakistan, the concept recognized the value created when Swedish technology, expertise and ideas come together with Pakistani talent, businesses and local knowledge.

The Embassy said that, together with Business Sweden and the Swedish Business Council in Pakistan, it will continue working with partners in both countries to identify opportunities, support business connections and encourage greater cooperation between Swedish and Pakistani companies.
