Chiefs of the Gwadar Port Authority (GPA) and Customs Transit Trade on Wednesday decided to hold a comprehensive multi-stakeholder meeting next Thursday to finalise a concrete action plan to streamline transit trade and cargo movement to Iran via Gwadar Port.

GPA Chairman Noorul Haq Baloch met Customs Transit Trade Director General Irfan Javed at the Directorate General of Customs Transit Trade Office.

The decision to convene a meeting followed discussions on facilitating, streamlining, and organising cargo transit to Iran through the Gabd/Rimdhan 250 border crossing.

Officials noted that despite clear directives from the Ministry of Commerce and the Federal Board of Revenue, cross-border trade via Gwadar Port continues to face operational bottlenecks.

In a separate engagement in Karachi, Mr Baloch met Karachi Port Trust Chairman, retired Rear Admiral Shahid Ahmed, at the KPT head office to discuss enhancing connectivity and maritime economic growth. The officials exchanged views on current cargo traffic patterns and strategic measures to strengthen Pakistan’s maritime sector.
