Terming cybercrime the biggest challenge of the present era, Interior Secretary Ahmad Raza Sarwar on Wednesday said the Ministry of Interior would provide all possible resources, modern technology and manpower to make the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) a modern, strong and professional institution.
The secretary was speaking during his visit to the NCCIA headquarters in Islamabad, where Director General Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi received him and gave a detailed briefing.
Mr Rizvi briefed the secretary on the overall performance of the agency, its new crime control strategy to cope with the increasing challenges of cybercrime, measures for swift delivery of justice to people through effective holding of Khuli Kutchery, and progress on the under-construction modern building of the NCCIA headquarters.
Appreciating recent successes of the NCCIA, especially major crackdowns against illegal call centres and online fraud networks, the interior secretary assured full cooperation from the ministry of interior for enhancing the agency’s capacity, promotion of modern technology and increase in manpower.

He said NCCIA’s role was pivotal to protect people from cyber fraud, harassment and financial crimes and to ensure timely and transparent justice.
Separately, DG Rizvi also chaired a meeting of SHOs of all NCCIA circles via Zoom to review measures for prevention of cybercrime and improvement in investigation.
The meeting discussed strategies for timely and effective redressal of people’s complaints, early disposal of pending cases and making investigation more modern and effective.
SHOs of all circles briefed the DG on their performance, challenges and ongoing investigation cases.
Issuing clear instructions, the DG directed that provision of immediate justice to the public, transparency and merit be ensured at all costs.
He said investigation should be completed on merit by employing professional expertise, honesty and modern technology, complainants be treated with courtesy and empathy, open courts (Khuli Kutchery) be held regularly and the public-friendly image of NCCIA be further improved.
