China State Construction Engineering Corporation Ltd. has been selected to rehabilitate sections of National Highway N-5 in Sindh under a $100 million Chinese grant funded project being implemented by the National Highway Authority (NHA), with the contract now drafted for signing following approval by the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) on February 27, 2026.

According to official documents available with Wealth Pakistan, the project falls under the Ministry of Communications and aims to improve the condition of key sections of N-5, one of Pakistan’s main transport arteries connecting major cities, commercial centres, industrial zones and agricultural markets.

The rehabilitation work is expected to improve road safety and driving conditions while facilitating the smoother movement of passenger and freight traffic along the targeted sections.

The project is also expected to reduce vehicle operating costs and transportation delays, improve logistics efficiency and strengthen domestic supply chains, benefiting transport operators, businesses and communities along the highway.

The $100 million grant commitment from China reflects bilateral cooperation in infrastructure development, with improved road connectivity expected to support trade, logistics and economic activity in the region
