Pakistan Railways has introduced a newly prepared rake for the Karakoram Express, which operates on the Lahore-Karachi route, as part of efforts to improve passenger facilities.
Pakistan Railways CEO Muhammad Hafizullah inaugurated the new rake at Lahore Railway Station.

The rake consists of 10 economy-class coaches, two business-class coaches and two lower-AC coaches. It is also equipped with a power plant, brake van and two luggage vans.
Speaking at the inauguration, Hafizullah said the addition would improve travelling facilities for passengers using the Karakoram Express.
He said the railway administration was working on the gradual upgrade of other passenger trains to improve service standards and provide better facilities to travellers.
The CEO added that steps were also being taken to enhance passenger comfort and facilities across the railway network.

The new rake was manufactured and prepared at the Islamabad Carriage Factory before being brought to Lahore several days ahead of its formal inauguration.
The Karakoram Express is a non-stop passenger service connecting Lahore and Karachi.
