Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to collaborate on the publication and translation of the Holy Quran, to promote Islamic knowledge.

The Saudi Ministry of Religious Affairs announced the agreement on X, stating, “The Ministry of Islamic Affairs signs a memorandum of understanding with the Pakistani Ministry of Religious Affairs.”

The signing ceremony took place in Jeddah, attended by Sheikh Dr. Abdullatif bin Abdulaziz Al Al-Sheikh, Saudi Minister of Islamic Affairs. According to Saudi state media, the agreement includes cooperation in advocacy, preacher training, and highlighting the virtues of Islam and its message of moderation.

The MoU covers publishing and translating the Holy Quran and the Prophetic Sunnah, organizing mosques, training preachers and imams, and sharing expertise in mosque construction and maintenance. It also focuses on reviving Islamic heritage, publishing Islamic literature, and preserving historical manuscripts.

In a related development, Pakistan’s Ministry of Religious Affairs recently signed an agreement with Saudi Airlines to support Hajj operations, ensuring travel arrangements for 35,000 Pakistani pilgrims.
