The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) and Pakistan Single Window (PSW) will launch a digital system for collection of Cargo Throughput Charges (CTC) at Jinnah International Airport, Karachi, from August 27, replacing manual and paper-based procedures with electronic payments and automated verification.
The development comes as PAA and PSW signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to digitalise the collection of CTC on import consignments arriving in Pakistan by air, read a statement on Tuesday.
Director Commercial, PAA, Abdul Basit signed the MoU on behalf of Pakistan Airports Authority, while Chief Domain Officer Naveed Abbas Memon signed on behalf of Pakistan Single Window.
“The initiative aims to integrate CTC payments with the PSW platform, replacing manual and paper-based procedures with a streamlined digital process. The system will facilitate electronic payments, automated document verification, and real-time visibility of CTC collections,” read the statement.
The digital CTC collection system is expected to reduce paperwork, bank visits, and queues while improving transparency and efficiency in the collection process, the statement read.
It added that the PSW-PAA collaboration is in line with the Government of Pakistan’s digitalisation policy and represents an important step towards modernising Pakistan’s air cargo ecosystem and facilitating trade.
