Federal Minister for National Heritage and Culture Aurangzeb Khan Khichi has emphasised the importance of protecting the country’s archaeological heritage and ensuring effective measures for the preservation of Mohenjo Daro for future generations.
He was discussing the measures taken so far for the preservation of Mohenjo Daro while visiting the ancient site along with Federal Secretary of the Culture Division Asad Rehman Gilani on Saturday.
Director General of Archaeology and Museums Syeda Tanzeela Sabahat, Director General of the Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) Mohammad Ayub Jamali, as well as the council’s director Mr Amanullah, accompanied the minister on the visit.
The minister and officials reviewed the state of the world-famous heritage site and assessed the efforts being made for their preservation, conservation and protection. The minister was briefed on the challenges associated with these efforts.
The minister reaffirmed the federal government’s commitment to protecting and promoting the country’s rich archaeological and cultural heritage.
