Pakistan and Bangladesh reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations, welcoming growing engagement between the two countries, including enhanced people-to-people contacts and improved connectivity following the launch of direct flights earlier this year.

Both sides agreed to sustain the positive trajectory in ties going forward, said a press release issued.

The commitment came as Deputy Prime Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar met the Foreign Minister of Bangladesh and the President-elect of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly, Khalilur Rehman, on the sidelines of the 33rd ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) Ministerial Meeting in Manila.

The two leaders reviewed the positive trajectory of Pakistan-Bangladesh relations and the renewed momentum generated by the Deputy Prime Minister’s visit to Bangladesh last year.

The two sides also exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual interest.
