The move aims to speed up clearance, strengthen risk assessment and reduce border dwell time

Pakistan Customs, Pakistan Single Window and the State Customs Committee of Uzbekistan have operationalised an electronic system for exchanging pre-arrival customs information following a memorandum of understanding signed between the two sides.

Under the arrangement, customs officials can now access shared data for operational use before consignments reach border points.

Officials said the system upgrade is expected to streamline customs declaration processing, enhance risk assessment and reduce the time goods spend at border stations.

The data exchange marks the first in a series of planned customs information-sharing agreements with regional partners. Authorities said the initiative is aligned with Pakistan’s commitments under the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) Programme, particularly in the areas of trade facilitation, customs cooperation, and digital connectivity.

The integration between the two administrations is aimed at strengthening trade links between South Asia and Central Asia through improved digital coordination.
