Authorities have moved forward with plans to install e-gates at immigration counters at three major airports across the country.
According to official sources, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) will introduce the e-gates at departure and arrival counters at Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad airports in the initial phase.
Officials have finalized the locations for installing the e-gates at Karachi Airport. The new system aims to speed up immigration processing and reduce waiting times for passengers by automating parts of the clearance process.
Sources said the FIA is implementing the project in coordination with the Pakistan Airports Authority and the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA). Officials said the relevant agencies are working jointly to ensure smooth integration of the technology at immigration counters.
The introduction of e-gates marks a step toward modernizing airport immigration services and improving passenger facilitation at major international gateways.
