The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has unveiled a new Computer Science curriculum for 2025, introducing more than 14 advanced specializations to align academic learning with global technology trends and Pakistan’s digital transformation goals.

According to the HEC, the revised curriculum features modern fields such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Data Science, Cybersecurity, Robotics, and Quantum Computing. It also includes a professional certification component, ensuring that graduates acquire both academic knowledge and industry-recognized skills.

The Commission further announced that the Associate Degree in Computing has now been officially recognized as a skills-based qualification, opening new avenues for students seeking professional advancement.

HEC confirmed that this new curriculum will be implemented across all universities, replacing the older framework. Developed collaboratively by academia, industry experts, and government bodies, the updated syllabus emphasizes final-year projects and hands-on field experience, in line with the Undergraduate Education Policy 2023.

A spokesperson for the HEC stated that the reform aims to produce industry-ready graduates capable of meeting the demands of a rapidly evolving digital economy.
