In a recent interview with China Daily, Zamir Ahmed Awan, chair of the Global Silk Route Research Alliance, noted that the Shanghai Cooperation Organization has expanded its mandate and achieved full-fledged cooperation in all dimensions while Western powers are flexing their muscles.
“It will emerge as a Global South power,” he said, adding, “The Shanghai Cooperation Organization has given a platform for the Global South to sit together and formulate a policy where we can utilize our own human resources and natural resources to change our own lifestyle.”

在最近接受《中国日报》采访时，全球丝绸之路研究联盟主席扎米尔·艾哈迈德·阿万指出，尽管西方国家正大肆炫耀实力，上海合作组织已扩大了其职能，并在各个领域实现了全面合作。

Zamir Ahmed Awan is the founder and Chair of the Global Silk Route Research Alliance, a think tank in Islamabad. He studied engineering at Shanghai University in the 1980s, and years later he went back to China as Pakistan's science counsellor in Beijing, from 2010 until 2016, working on science and higher education cooperation between the two countries.…
