A new type of internet is coming to Pakistan, and it’s from Elon Musk’s company, SpaceX. The service is called Starlink. Unlike normal internet that uses cables and wires, Starlink uses satellites in space. This means it can work anywhere in Pakistan, even in villages, mountains, or deserts where normal internet is not available.
Launch Date in Pakistan
Starlink got temporary approval from the Pakistani government in March 2025. Right now, the government is finishing security checks and final rules.
Why Starlink is Important for Pakistan
- Works in remote areas with no internet
- No cables or fiber needed — just a dish and Wi-Fi router
- Very useful for students, freelancers, and online jobs
- Gives super-fast internet (50 to 500 Mbps), much faster than most local companies
Expected Packages and Prices
| Plan | Speed | Monthly Price | One-Time Setup |
|---|---|---|---|
| Home | 50–250 Mbps | Rs. 35,000 | Rs. 110,000 |
| Travel | 50–250 Mbps | Rs. 50,000 | Rs. 120,000 |
| Business | 100–500 Mbps | Rs. 95,000 | Rs. 220,000 |
💡 Prices may reduce after launch, and cheaper packages could be introduced later.
Why So Expensive?
Starlink is costly because it uses advanced satellites and needs a special dish device. It is mainly made for people who cannot get any other internet service. The focus is on speed and reliability, not low price.
What Still Needs to Happen
Before launch, Starlink must complete:
- Full license from PTA
- Security clearance from government
- Setting up ground stations
- Technical and safety checks
Final Thoughts
Starlink can be a game changer for Pakistan’s internet. It will help people in rural and hard-to-reach areas. Though expensive at the start, it offers fast, reliable, and wireless internet. Over time, prices may drop, making it easier for more people to use .
