The United Kingdom has pledged support for seven climate change initiatives in Pakistan, including the development of solar farms and the application of artificial intelligence to cut emissions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Announced by the British High Commission on Friday, the initiative emphasizes Pakistan\u2019s vulnerability to extreme weather, such as the catastrophic 2022 floods that claimed over 1,700 lives and displaced millions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The funded projects include plans to build floating solar farms, create AI-driven platforms to reduce emissions, and convert agricultural waste into clean energy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This support will be provided through the Climate Finance Accelerator (CFA), a \u00a312.6 million technical assistance program funded by the UK government\u2019s International Climate Finance initiative to help developing nations tackle climate challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Each project will receive expert guidance on financial matters, gender equality, and social inclusion to improve its proposals and attract investors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Key projects include a 500MW floating solar farm at Keenjhar Lake, designed to generate clean energy and decrease reliance on fossil fuels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Another initiative, led by Quintech Sciences, focuses on eco-friendly, health-conscious products, while a biochar project will convert agricultural waste into a carbon-rich substance to enhance crop yields and reduce the need for synthetic fertilizers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Pakistan Environment Trust will transform agricultural waste into clean energy for industrial use, and establish a facility to produce Recycled Polyethylene Terephthalate (R-PET) resin, aimed at reducing plastic dependency and carbon emissions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
British High Commissioner Jane Marriott praised the diverse projects, noting that they demonstrate Pakistan\u2019s leadership in addressing climate change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
