The finance adviser also put emphasis on expediting the long-stagnated trade and commerce relations between Bangladesh and Pakistan.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pakistan has shown keen interest in importing Bangladesh’s jute products, Bangladesh’s Finance and Commerce Adviser Salehuddin Ahmed said today (10 September).\u00a0<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

“They will participate in exhibitions and they will try to promote and import more jute-made goods if their entrepreneurs are convinced. Our businesses can also import products from them if they are convinced,” the adviser told reporters after the Pakistan High Commissioner to Bangladesh Syed Ahmed Maroof called on him at his ERD office in the capital’s Sher-e-Bangla Nagar area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Salahuddin said Pakistan will also try to relaunch direct flights such as Dhaka-Karachi if that is commercially viable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The finance adviser also emphasized expediting the long-stagnated trade and commerce relations between Bangladesh and Pakistan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He asked the Pakistan high commissioner to pursue and engage more with the private sector rather than relying only on the G2G process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Regarding boosting economic cooperation, the adviser said projects could be taken in cooperation.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“But, many surrounding matters like interests of both the countries should have to be considered,” he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Pakistan high commissioner said they had a wonderful discussion regarding the economic and trade relations between Pakistan and Bangladesh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We discussed every aspect of that and we are looking forward to having greater and in-depth economic and trade cooperation as well as interaction with Bangladesh in the coming years,” he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Pakistan envoy also said, “At the moment, we feel that we can assist with flood relief. The offer stands as made by our prime minister several days ago when he called the chief adviser.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
