<\/a>Adviser to the National Command Authority Lt Gen Khalid Kidwai on Wednesday said that Pakistan\u2019s nuclear capabilities represent the country\u2019s commitment to defending its sovereignty against external threats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking at a conference held at the Institute of Regional Studies (IRS), Gen Kidwai, elaborated on the effectiveness of Pakistan\u2019s Full Spectrum Deterrence (FSD) doctrine in neutralizing the perceived threats posed by India\u2019s \u201cCold Start Doctrine\u201d and other proactive military strategies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cPakistan\u2019s entire spectrum of deterrence, coupled with its readiness in nuclear capabilities, underlines our resolve to safeguard our territory from any form of aggression,\u201d Gen Kidwai said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During his speech, Gen Kidwai described Pakistan\u2019s tactical nuclear weapons as \u201cweapons of peace\u201d, crediting them with maintaining strategic balance in South Asia. He highlighted the broad national support for Pakistan\u2019s nuclear program, considering it a pillar of national security and a deterrent against potential conflicts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Addressing the evolving geopolitical dynamics in the region, Gen Kidwai stated: \u201cIt is increasingly incumbent upon Pakistan to ensure that the strategic stability of the region is not compromised.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He criticized India\u2019s aggressive posturing, including threats of cross-border military actions, as ineffective political rhetoric, frustrated by Pakistan\u2019s robust nuclear deterrence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gen Kidwai also praised Pakistan\u2019s restrained response as a responsible nuclear state, particularly during crises such as the 2019 Balakot incident, which prevented escalation and highlighted the maturity of Pakistan\u2019s strategic command.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Further, he noted that Pakis\u00adtan\u2019s formidable nuclear arsenal limits India\u2019s conventional military strategies, pushing it towards non-traditional warfare tactics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIn the face of India\u2019s 5th generation warfare, we must remain vigilant and prepared, with a strategy that includes offensive-defensive options to counter hybrid threats effectively,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
