GAZA:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n A Hamas official said Sunday the Palestinian group was withdrawing from Gaza truce talks, following a deadly Israeli strike that targeted militant commander Mohammed Deif more than nine months into the war.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Another Hamas official told AFP that \u201cCommander Mohammed Deif\u201d, the Islamist group\u2019s military chief, was \u201cwell and directly overseeing\u201d operations despite the bombing raid on a southern Gaza displacement camp on Saturday, which Israel said was an attempt to kill him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Another senior official said Hamas was pulling out of negotiations towards a ceasefire because of Israeli \u201cmassacres\u201d and repeated stalling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Ismail Haniyeh, Hamas\u2019s Qatar-based political chief, told international mediators of the \u201cdecision to halt negotiations due to the (Israeli) occupation\u2019s lack of seriousness, continued policy of procrastination and obstruction, and the ongoing massacres against unarmed civilians\u201d, the official said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n But Hamas was \u201cready to resume negotiations\u201d when Israel\u2019s government \u201cdemonstrates seriousness in reaching a ceasefire agreement and a prisoner exchange deal\u201d, the official quoted Haniyeh as saying.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The health ministry in the Hamas-run Gaza Strip said at least 92 people had been killed, more than half of them women and children, and 300 wounded in a strike on Al-Mawasi, an Israeli-designated \u201csafe zone\u201d on the Mediterranean coast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Philippe Lazzarini, head of the UN agency for Palestinian refugees, UNRWA, described the area as \u201ca sandy 14-square-kilometer (5.4-square-mile) agricultural land, where people are left out in the open with little to no buildings or roads\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThe claim that people in Gaza can move to \u2018safe\u2019 or \u2018humanitarian\u2019 zones is false\u201d, said Lazzarini on social media site X. At the site of the strike, an AFP photographer saw the charred remains of tents as Palestinians searched through the wreckage for any salvageable items.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Plastic covers, broken water tanks, and other equipment used for makeshift shelters were scattered on the sand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Israel was using talks to gain time and eliminate Palestinians. Its policy of genocide is ongoing, despite the very clear resolution of a ceasefire by the UNSC. Despite the international community’s efforts, the suffering of Palestinians is not reaching an end.
