As night approached, he heard a knock on his door. When he opened it, he was surprised to find Imam Al-Shafi’i standing there. The Imam said, “O Yunus, hundreds of issues unite us, and one issue separates us! O Yunus, do not try to win in every disagreement. Sometimes, ‘winning hearts’ is more important than ‘winning arguments.’<\/p>\n\n\n\n
O Yunus, do not destroy the bridges you have built and crossed, for you may need them someday to return.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Always hate ‘the mistake,’ but do not hate ‘the one who makes it.’ Detest ‘the sin’ with all your heart, but forgive and have mercy on ‘the sinner.’ O Yunus, criticize ‘the statement,’ but respect ‘the speaker.’ Our mission is to eradicate ‘the disease,’ not ‘the patient.'”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
