As China commemorates the 99th anniversary of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA), President Xi Jinping has once again emphasized the strategic importance of accelerating the high-quality modernization of China’s national defense and armed forces. His recent address to the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee reaffirmed the objective of achieving the PLA’s centenary goals by 2027 and making decisive progress toward building a world-class military capable of supporting China’s broader vision of national rejuvenation through Chinese modernization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since the founding of the People’s Republic of China in 1949, the PLA has played a role extending far beyond traditional military responsibilities. While safeguarding China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity remains its core mission, the PLA has also contributed significantly to national development, disaster relief, infrastructure construction, poverty alleviation, public health emergencies, and scientific advancement. China’s remarkable economic rise has been accompanied by a stable domestic security environment, within which the PLA has served as a key institutional pillar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under the leadership of President Xi Jinping, military modernization has entered a new phase characterized by technological innovation, institutional reform, and enhanced operational capability. The emphasis on unmanned intelligent technologies, integrated network information systems, joint operational capabilities, and combat-oriented training reflects China’s determination to ensure that its defense establishment keeps pace with rapid technological transformation. These reforms are not merely about acquiring advanced equipment but also about improving efficiency, professionalism, transparency, and combat readiness through systematic modernization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

President Xi also highlighted another essential element of military reform: integrity. His call to strengthen supervision, improve governance of major defense projects, and continue anti-corruption efforts demonstrates that modernization is viewed not only in technological terms but also through institutional accountability and organizational discipline. Such measures contribute to building a military that is both capable and professionally managed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The PLA’s contribution extends well beyond China’s borders. China has become one of the largest contributors of peacekeeping personnel among the permanent members of the United Nations Security Council. Chinese peacekeepers have served in Africa and the Middle East, undertaking engineering, medical, transportation, and security tasks that have supported conflict recovery and humanitarian assistance. The PLA Navy has participated in anti-piracy operations in the Gulf of Aden, protected vital international shipping lanes, and conducted humanitarian evacuation missions during regional crises. These activities reflect China’s increasing participation in international security cooperation and its commitment to maintaining peace and stability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For Pakistan, the modernization of the PLA carries special significance. The Pakistan-China relationship, often described as an “all-weather strategic cooperative partnership,” has evolved into one of the strongest bilateral relationships in the contemporary international system. Defense cooperation remains a cornerstone of this enduring partnership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The armed forces of both countries maintain close collaboration through regular strategic dialogue, joint military exercises, counterterrorism cooperation, professional exchanges, and defense technology partnerships. Jointly developed platforms such as the JF-17 Thunder fighter aircraft symbolize a successful model of technological cooperation, while collaboration in naval platforms, air defense systems, military education, and defense industries has strengthened Pakistan’s indigenous defense capabilities and enhanced interoperability between the two militaries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This cooperation is not directed against any particular country. Rather, it contributes to maintaining strategic stability, strengthening deterrence, improving maritime security, combating terrorism, and protecting critical regional infrastructure, including projects associated with the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). In an era marked by geopolitical uncertainty and evolving security challenges, constructive defense cooperation based on mutual trust and shared interests contributes positively to regional peace and sustainable development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the PLA approaches its centenary in 2027, its transformation mirrors China’s broader national journey\u2014from revolution and reconstruction to modernization and global engagement. The modernization of China’s armed forces is closely integrated with the country’s pursuit of peaceful development, technological innovation, and international cooperation. A strong, modern, and disciplined PLA provides strategic confidence for China’s continued development while contributing to regional stability through responsible engagement and cooperation. For Pakistan, continued collaboration with China in defense, security, technology, and economic development will remain an important pillar of its comprehensive strategic partnership. Together, the two countries demonstrate how mutual respect, strategic trust, and long-term cooperation can contribute not only to national interests but also to broader regional peace, stability, and shared prosperity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u81ea1949\u5e74\u4e2d\u534e\u4eba\u6c11\u5171\u548c\u56fd\u6210\u7acb\u4ee5\u6765\uff0c\u4e2d\u56fd\u4eba\u6c11\u89e3\u653e\u519b\u6240\u627f\u62c5\u7684\u804c\u8d23\u8fdc\u8fdc\u8d85\u51fa\u4e86\u4f20\u7edf\u519b\u4e8b\u804c\u80fd\u3002\u7ef4\u62a4\u4e2d\u56fd\u4e3b\u6743\u548c\u9886\u571f\u5b8c\u6574\u59cb\u7ec8\u662f\u5176\u6838\u5fc3\u4f7f\u547d\uff0c\u540c\u65f6\uff0c\u89e3\u653e\u519b\u4e5f\u5728\u56fd\u5bb6\u53d1\u5c55\u3001\u707e\u5bb3\u6551\u63f4\u3001\u57fa\u7840\u8bbe\u65bd\u5efa\u8bbe\u3001\u6276\u8d2b\u3001\u516c\u5171\u536b\u751f\u5e94\u6025\u4ee5\u53ca\u79d1\u6280\u8fdb\u6b65\u7b49\u65b9\u9762\u53d1\u6325\u4e86\u91cd\u8981\u4f5c\u7528\u3002\u4e2d\u56fd\u7ecf\u6d4e\u7684\u5feb\u901f\u53d1\u5c55\u4f34\u968f\u7740\u7a33\u5b9a\u7684\u56fd\u5185\u5b89\u5168\u73af\u5883\uff0c\u800c\u89e3\u653e\u519b\u4e5f\u6210\u4e3a\u7ef4\u62a4\u8fd9\u4e00\u73af\u5883\u7684\u91cd\u8981\u5236\u5ea6\u652f\u67f1\u4e4b\u4e00\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n
