{"id":34790,"date":"2026-07-18T04:33:38","date_gmt":"2026-07-18T04:33:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gsrra.com\/?p=34790"},"modified":"2026-07-18T04:33:42","modified_gmt":"2026-07-18T04:33:42","slug":"pakistan-ogdcl-to-begin-large-scale-shale-gas-drilling-in-sindh","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gsrra.com\/?p=34790","title":{"rendered":"Pakistan: OGDCL to begin large-scale shale gas drilling in Sindh"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.nation.com.pk\/digital_images\/large\/2026-07-16\/ogdcl-begin-large-scale-shale-gas-drilling-sindh-1784199380-7806.jpg\" alt=\"OGDCL to begin large-scale shale gas drilling in Sindh\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) has decided to begin large-scale drilling operations following the discovery of significant\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nation.com.pk\/tag\/shale%20gas\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">shale gas<\/a>\u00a0reserves in Sindh, the company&#8217;s managing director said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Speaking in an interview, OGDCL Managing Director Ahmed Hayat Lak said the presence of substantial\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nation.com.pk\/tag\/shale%20gas\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">shale gas<\/a>\u00a0reserves has been confirmed in Hyderabad and Sanghar districts after the successful drilling of a vertical well. He added that a pilot project to assess the commercial viability of the reserves has also proved successful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the initial assessment, the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nation.com.pk\/tag\/shale%20gas\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">shale gas<\/a>&nbsp;reserves in Sindh are estimated at 7.5 trillion cubic feet (TCF).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ahmed Hayat Lak said a rig has already been installed for horizontal drilling, which is the next phase of the development process.
