Secretary-General of the Arab League Nabil Fahmy condemned on Tuesday statements by Israeli \u2018Defense\u2019 Minister Israel Katz regarding the establishment of three military-linked Nahal colonial outposts in northern Gaza.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Fahmy stressed that Katz\u2019s statements reflect the Israeli right’s true plan to reoccupy the Gaza Strip, or parts of it, and are in blatant contradiction with the peace plan proposed last year and UN Security Council (UNSC) Resolution 2803 (November 2025).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He called on the international community and the UNSC to confront these far-right policies aimed at further entrenching the occupation, noting that the Israeli government is under the complete control of the colonist movement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking during a tour of northern Gaza broadcast by Israel\u2019s Channel 14 on Monday, Katz said the widespread destruction of the Gaza Strip gave him \u201ca good feeling,\u201d describing the devastation as the outcome of a \u201cdeliberate policy,\u201d while unveiling plans to establish three new military-linked settlement outposts in northern Gaza.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the same visit, Katz openly defended the destruction caused by Israel\u2019s ongoing genocide in Gaza and suggested it represented a permanent shift in Israeli strategy and announced plans to establish three Nahal outposts in northern Gaza.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The planned sites correspond to locations where Israeli colonies existed before Israel\u2019s redeployment from the Gaza Strip in 2005.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nahal outposts combine military deployment with colonial settlement activity and have historically served as the first stage in establishing permanent civilian colonies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Although Israel dismantled its colonies in Gaza in 2005, calls by senior members of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu\u2019s coalition to re-establish settlements have become increasingly frequent since the beginning of the genocide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Jewish supremacist far-right ministers have repeatedly advocated the permanent reoccupation of parts or all of the Gaza Strip and the return of Israeli colonists to the territory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Katz\u2019s proposal marks one of the clearest official indications yet that elements within the Israeli government are actively planning for a renewed colonial settlement presence in Gaza.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
