Now the silver-haired 76-year-old, nicknamed \u201cBibi\u201d, is staring down an election that many believe could finally draw the curtain on one of the most consequential and contested careers in Israeli politics \u2014 or extend it once again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Netanyahu has declared that he \u201cintends to win\u201d in the election<\/a> scheduled for October 27, setting the stage for what could be the defining contest of his political life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/a>Shattered image of \u2018Mr Security\u2019<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Netanyahu built his entire career on a single promise: that he alone could keep Israel safe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
