HUM TV has announced it will air the film on its channel, much to the dismay of social media users.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/a>After artificial intelligence\u00a0reimagined the endings<\/a>\u00a0of films,\u00a0created a new actor<\/a>\u00a0from scratch and\u00a0generated a ad shoot<\/a>\u00a0for\u00a0Vogue<\/em>, the technology is having its moment in Pakistan\u2019s entertainment industry with the country\u2019s first AI-generated movie set to premiere on TV, much to the disappointment of social media users.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Next Salahuddin<\/em><\/a>,<\/em> a children\u2019s film about a Gazan boy who dreams of conquering Jerusalem, has been picked up by HUM TV<\/em> for a future release, the channel announced on Friday. The film had a limited theatrical run earlier this year across nine Pakistani cities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Created by Jinn TV, the film follows Yousuf, whose childhood is taken away from him by a \u2014 presumably Israeli \u2014 airstrike that kills his family members and leaves him buried under the rubble of his home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The boy then works towards his goal of uniting Muslims around the world to avenge his people and raise the Palestinian flag over the Al Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem, shadowing the achievements of Salahuddin Ayubi \u2014 the Muslim general who captured the city during the Crusades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The film was conceptualised by Ustadh Asim Ismail and brought to life by Farhan Siddiqui, who wrote and created it using AI. A Malaysian non-profit organisation, Cinta Gaza Malaysia, was also involved in the film\u2019s development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the announcement\u2019s comment section, the mood was less jovial than expected and people wondered if this was really the right way to go about making a film on such an important topic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Netizens questioned if HUM TV<\/em>, part of one of the largest media companies in Pakistan, lacked the resources to make a film on the Palestinian struggle without using AI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some users pointed out the controversies surrounding the use of AI itself, like its wasteful use of clean water and the fact it has been called out<\/a> for enabling the exploitation of artists and writers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Others made their point very clear: AI is not art. They also called on people to boycott generative AI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

HUM TV<\/em> has not given a release date for the film yet and it remains to be seen how the film will be received by audiences when it does air.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
