{"id":28002,"date":"2026-01-11T06:03:37","date_gmt":"2026-01-11T06:03:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gsrra.com\/?p=28002"},"modified":"2026-01-11T06:03:40","modified_gmt":"2026-01-11T06:03:40","slug":"turkiye-seeks-entry-into-pakistan-saudi-defence-pact-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gsrra.com\/?p=28002","title":{"rendered":"Turkiye seeks entry into Pakistan\u2013Saudi defence pact: report"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong><em>Deal is very likely, says Bloomberg<\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"282\" height=\"179\" src=\"https:\/\/gsrra.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/image-50.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-28004\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/youtube.com\/channel\/UCFWx0mweS7ExXjs3s_wH0CQ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/BusinessRecorder\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/businessrecorder\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/brecordernews\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.brecorder.com\/feeds\/latest-news\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><\/a><strong>In a key development on the strategic front, Turkiye is seeking to join the defence alliance between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan,\u00a0<em>Bloomberg<\/em>\u00a0reported on Friday, citing people familiar with the matter.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the report, such an alliance \u201cmakes sense\u201d because Turkiye\u2019s interests increasingly overlap with those of Saudi Arabia and Pakistan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThe talks are at an advanced stage, and a deal is very likely,\u201d the sources said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to&nbsp;<em>Bloomberg<\/em>, Turkiye participation in the defence alliance, which has the largest military presence in NATO after the US, \u201ccould shift the balance of power in the Middle East and beyond\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.brecorder.com\/news\/40396894\/turkiye-keen-on-setting-up-defence-and-high-tech-production-in-pakistan\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>T\u00fcrkiye keen on setting up defence and high-tech production in Pakistan<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In September last year, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia signed a landmark&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.brecorder.com\/news\/40383204\/pakistan-saudi-arabia-sign-landmark-strategic-mutual-defense-agreement\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u201cStrategic Mutual Defence Agreement\u201d&nbsp;<\/a>during Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif\u2019s state visit to Riyadh, at the invitation of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Under the pact, any aggression against either Pakistan or Saudi Arabia will be treated as an aggression against both states, thereby enhancing joint deterrence capabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meanwhile, the report stated that Turkiye also sees the pact as a way of strengthening security and deterrence when there are questions over the reliability of the US.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to Nihat Ali Ozcan, a strategist with Ankara-based think tank TEPAV, Saudi Arabia brings financial clout, Pakistan has nuclear capability, ballistic missiles and manpower, while Turkey has the military experience and has developed a defence industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAs the US prioritises its own interests and that of Israel in the region, changing dynamics and fallout from regional conflicts are prompting countries to develop new mechanisms to identify friends and foes,\u201d Ozcan told&nbsp;<em>Bloomberg<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Turkiye\u2019s Defence Ministry, Pakistan\u2019s Information Ministry and Saudi Arabian authorities did not respond to a request for a comment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Turkiye and Pakistan enjoy close military relations.
