During the visit, he reviewed the condition of the historic building and its infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Located on the Lahore\u2013Karachi main railway line, the Lodhran junction has held strategic importance since before the Partition of 1947. The station historically served rural populations traveling toward Lahore via Vehari and Mailsi and toward Karachi through Rohri and Hyderabad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The junction remains significant as it is Pakistan Railways\u2019 only station from where a double railway track extends up to Karachi. This section facilitates both express passenger trains and freight movement from Karachi\u2019s port to upcountry destinations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite its importance, the station has suffered from years of neglect. Officials said the building remains in poor condition, with basic passenger facilities lacking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the inspection, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Liaquat Gilani, Station Master Iqbal Malik, and officials from the district building department briefed the deputy commissioner on the station\u2019s condition and history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Officials informed the DC that the district administration had already carried out limited repair work using its own funds, but major renovation is required to preserve the station\u2019s historical value.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The deputy commissioner directed the installation of LED lights in passenger lounges and CCTV cameras at key locations inside and outside the station to enhance security.
