<\/a>The Israeli military has warned Palestinians that\u00a0Gaza\u2019<\/a>s north remains a \u201ccombat zone\u201d, telling its residents to move south, after United States President Donald Trump demanded Israel \u201cstop bombing\u201d the enclave when\u00a0Hamas partially accepted<\/a>\u00a0his ceasefire plan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a statement on X, the Israeli army said on Saturday that the area north of Wadi Gaza, which includes decimated Gaza City, is \u201cstill considered a dangerous combat zone\u201d and called on residents there to move south via Rashid Street, the coastal route. It added that Israeli forces continue to surround Gaza City and \u201cattempts to return there pose a significant risk.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Southern Gaza is packed with hundreds of thousands of displaced Palestinians living in overcrowded enclaves, hoping to be able to return to the north.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe were waiting for this good news. We were waiting for Hamas to accept and for our lives to become as nice as it was before, or even better,\u201d a displaced Palestinian speaking from Nuseirat in central Gaza told Al Jazeera. \u201cWe hope for more good news to come, we hope to return to Gaza City,\u201d he said, without sharing his name.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
