<\/a>Praising the J-10 and JF-17 aircraft for str\u00adengthening Pakistan\u2019s aerial defence capabilities, President Asif Ali Zardari reaffirmed on Sunday that Pakistan and China would continue to expand their collaboration in the field of defence production and aviation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The president expressed this resolve during a visit<\/a> to top Chinese aerospace and defence conglomerate, the state-owned Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC), which manufactures the J-10C aircraft<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the President\u2019s Secr\u00adetariat, he is the first foreign head of state to visit the facility. He was accompanied by his children, PPP Chairman Bilawal and MNA Aseefa Bhutto-Zardari.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the visit, President Zar\u00addari met with the company\u2019s engineers and scientists and pra\u00adised the Chinese-made aircraft\u2019s capabilities, which he said were amply demonstrated during the recent Maarka-i-Haq<\/a> and Opera\u00adtion Bun\u00adyanum Marsoos<\/a> against India.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The president lauded AVIC as a \u201csymbol of China\u2019s technological advancement and of the end\u00aduring strategic partnership bet\u00adween Pakistan and China\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He was briefed on AVIC\u2019s capabilities, including the J-10, the co-production of the JF-17 Thun\u00adder<\/a> with Pakistan, the J-20<\/a> stea\u00adl\u00adth fifth-generation fighter airc\u00adr\u00adaft, and unmanned aerial vehicles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Senator Saleem Mandviwalla, Paki\u00adstan\u2019s Ambassador to China Khalil Hashmi and China\u2019s Amb\u00adassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaid\u00adong also accompanied the president.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

High-speed train<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

President Zardari also travelled from Chengdu to Mianyang via high-speed train.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the half-hour journey, he praised China\u2019s achievements in developing sustainable transport, calling its pollution-free electric propulsion and earthquake early warning technologies \u201ca marvel of railway engineering\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He noted that such innovations offered \u201cvaluable lessons for other countries including Pak\u00adistan\u201d. Officials highlighted that China operates the world\u2019s largest high-speed rail network of over 45,000 kilometres, carrying more than 2 billion passengers annually on trains that run up to 350km per hour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With trains running at up to 350km\/h, the network links almost all major Chinese cities. China has built a standardised, dedicated passenger system that became a model of modern connectivity, they said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
