In 1960, it introduced the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/?s=Boeing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Boeing<\/a>&nbsp;707, becoming the first Asian airline to operate jet aircraft\u2014marking a significant leap into the jet age, Gulf News reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Just two years later, a&nbsp;<strong>PIA Boeing 720<\/strong>&nbsp;made history by flying non-stop from&nbsp;<strong>London Heathrow (LHR)<\/strong>&nbsp;to&nbsp;<strong>Karachi (KHI)<\/strong>&nbsp;in 6 hours, 43 minutes, and 51 seconds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Piloted by Captain Abdullah Baig, the flight set a&nbsp;<strong>world speed record for commercial airliners<\/strong>&nbsp;with an average speed of&nbsp;<strong>582.98 mph (938.21 km\/h)<\/strong>\u2014a record that still stands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 1955, PIA inaugurated its first international service to&nbsp;<strong>London (LHR)<\/strong>.
